Rotting coat tails trailing behind him, a corroded cutlass raised in one bloated hand and a barnacle-encrusted tricorn pulled low over hollow eye sockets, the Zombie Pirate Captain is the terror that claws its way up from the wreck. He doesn't lead with tactics — he leads with relentless, shambling authority, and the lesser undead crew scrambling at his heels obey him through some cursed instinct older than the ship he sank with. Drop him on the table and watch your players reconsider whether they really want to explore that ghost galleon.
This is a Medium creature, supplied on a 25mm round base — occupying a single 1-inch grid square, he fits naturally on any standard dungeon tile or sea-map hex without crowding, yet his sculpted height and dramatic posture make him impossible to miss. Scaled to 28mm heroic scale and fully compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, and all major tabletop RPG systems.
What you receive
One professionally produced resin miniature, cleaned and ready for basing and painting. The figure captures the Captain mid-command — cutlass extended in a rotting arm, tattered greatcoat billowing, and jaw slack in a perpetual death-rattle snarl. The figure arrives in its natural grey resin finish — prime and paint to your own colour scheme. All support marks have been carefully removed. Every figure is inspected before dispatch — any miniature that does not meet our standard is remade, not shipped.
Detail and quality
The Captain's longcoat is rendered with deep fabric folds along the lapels and torn, ragged hemline — every rip and frayed edge is a distinct surface for layering and edge highlighting. His exposed ribcage punches through a rotted waistcoat, with individual bones clearly delineated for easy contrast paint work. The face is a sculptor's highlight: sunken cheeks, exposed teeth in a leering grimace, and hollow orbital sockets deep enough to puddle wash into shadow without any masking. Rope and chain accessories hang from his belt and wrist, and the cutlass blade is etched with barnacle clusters and salt-pitting that will reward a fine detail brush. His tricorn hat retains enough structural form to show hat-band stitching while still reading as waterlogged and ruined — a fine balance that separates good undead sculpts from great ones.

Compatibility
Compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Age of Sigmar, Frostgrave, and any system using 28–35mm scale figures. He's the natural centrepiece of a ghost ship encounter, a cursed harbour crawl, or a Ghosts of Saltmarsh campaign — equally at home commanding a zombie crew on an undead pirate flagship or rising alone from a shipwreck as a surprise boss encounter. Base: 25mm round base.
Painting tips
Prime in black for maximum shadow depth, then basecoat the skin with Vallejo Bonewhite or Citadel Rakarth Flesh before washing the entire figure with Citadel Agrax Earthshade — this single step unifies the rot, leather, and bone tones beautifully. Bring the exposed ribcage and jaw up through successive dry-brushes of Citadel Ushabti Bone and then a final light hit of pure white on the highest ridges for a bleached bone finish. The greatcoat responds well to a deep teal or faded navy basecoat — try Vallejo Dark Prussian Blue washed with Citadel Nuln Oil, then edge-highlighted with Citadel Thunderhawk Blue to capture that salt-faded, sun-bleached look of fabric lost at sea. The cutlass blade is an excellent candidate for a verdigris effect: basecoat in Citadel Balthasar Gold, wash heavily with Nihilakh Oxide, then drybrush lightly with Citadel Runefang Steel to leave oxidised green pooling in the pitting and barnacles. Finally, the hollow eye sockets are perfect for a subtle OSL treatment — a thin glaze of Citadel Hexwraith Flame or Vallejo Fluorescent Green deep in the sockets, with a ghost-light glow dry-brushed outward across the cheekbones, transforms the figure from a simple zombie into something genuinely unsettling at the gaming table.
Care
Resin miniatures are more brittle than plastic — handle with care, particularly on thin parts such as the cutlass blade tip, the dangling chain accessories, and the ragged coat-hem details. Store away from direct sunlight. Super glue bonds resin effectively if a part breaks.
Primed or unprimed?
This miniature is available in two options. Unprimed arrives in its natural grey resin finish — apply your own spray or brush-on primer before painting for maximum adhesion, which is the preferred approach of most experienced painters and gives you full control over primer colour and texture. Primed arrives pre-primed in a smooth flat grey, saving you a step and ready for base coats straight from the box. Both options are produced fresh to your order and ship from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia within 5–7 business days. Select your preference above.
Supplied unpainted. Images show the design and sculpt. Painted examples are for reference only.
