Pale as bleached bone and built like a siege engine, the White Ape is one of the most feared predators a jungle or underdark expedition can stumble across. This sculpt captures the creature mid-threat display — barrel chest thrust forward, lips drawn back in a silent roar, knuckles pressed hard into the earth as it sizes up the party. At the table it commands the battlefield the moment it hits the mat, triggering that instinctive silence around the table before the initiative dice even roll.
This is a Large creature, supplied on a 50mm round base — occupying a 2×2 square footprint on a standard grid, it looms over Medium-sized characters and makes its physical dominance impossible to ignore. Scaled to 28mm heroic scale and fully compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, and all major tabletop RPG systems.
What you receive
One professionally produced resin miniature, cleaned and ready for basing and painting. The White Ape features a powerfully hunched posture with one arm raised and the other braced on the ground, giving it a dynamic sense of coiled muscle and imminent violence — the kind of pose that reads clearly from across the table. The figure arrives in its natural grey resin finish — prime and paint to your own colour scheme. All support marks have been carefully removed. Every figure is inspected before dispatch — any miniature that does not meet our standard is remade, not shipped.
Detail and quality
The fur across the shoulders and upper back is rendered in deep, directional strokes that follow the natural grain of the coat — long, heavy locks over the traps and deltoids that thin to finer texture down the forearms and shins. The face is where the sculpt truly earns its keep: deep-set eyes under a prominent brow ridge, flared nostrils, and pronounced canines give it an expression that sits right on the edge of animal fury and something uncomfortably intelligent. The knuckles and palms show wrinkled, leathery skin with clear skin-fold detail — a gift for any painter who wants to push contrast between the pale fur and the darker extremities. Toes and fingertips are individually defined, and the musculature of the back and haunches is sculpted with enough anatomical accuracy to reward careful highlighting without looking overworked.

Compatibility
Compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Age of Sigmar, Frostgrave, and any system using 28–35mm scale figures. The White Ape is a natural fit for jungle ruins, underdark cavern encounters, lost-world hexcrawls, or as a guardian beast for a yuan-ti temple or drow outpost. It also works brilliantly as a re-skinned Owlbear stand-in or a unique apex predator in any wilderness campaign. Base: 50mm round base.
Painting tips
Start with a zenithal prime — black from below, white from above — to immediately establish the depth in the fur before a single brush stroke lands. The coat responds exceptionally well to Citadel Contrast Apothecary White thinned slightly with medium over a grey primer, which pools in the fur recesses and leaves the raised strands clean and bright. Follow with a careful wash of Agrax Earthshade or Vallejo Sepia Wash focused on the face, hands, and feet to push those areas darker and create visual separation from the white coat. Dry-brush the shoulder fur with pure white (Vallejo White or Citadel White Scar) to lift the longest strands and add a convincing animal sheen. For the skin of the face and extremities, a basecoat of Vallejo Mahogany Brown glazed down with thinned Citadel Druchii Violet gives a bruised, leathery quality that contrasts sharply with the pale fur — exactly how albino great apes look in nature. Pick out the eyes with a tiny dot of Citadel Yriel Yellow or a pale amber for an unsettling, predatory gleam.
Care
Resin miniatures are more brittle than plastic — handle with care, particularly on thin parts such as the individual fingers, toes, and the exposed lower jaw with its detailed canine teeth. Store away from direct sunlight. Super glue bonds resin effectively if a part breaks.
Primed or unprimed?
This miniature is available in two options. Unprimed arrives in its natural grey resin finish — apply your own spray or brush-on primer before painting for maximum adhesion, which is the preferred approach of most experienced painters and gives you full control over primer colour and texture. Primed arrives pre-primed in a smooth flat grey, saving you a step and ready for base coats straight from the box. Both options are produced fresh to your order and ship from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia within 5–7 business days. Select your preference above.
