The Wampus prowls the treeline at the edge of firelight, its six powerful legs carrying it in an unnerving, rippling gait that no four-legged creature should be able to match. Part panther, part nightmare, it bears a face of unsettling near-human cunning framed by swept-back horns and a mane of coarse, matted fur — a beast that has stalked folklore long enough to earn genuine dread. Drop this onto the table and your players will immediately know they are not dealing with a simple wolf encounter.
This is a Large creature, supplied on a 50mm round base — occupying a 2×2 grid footprint on standard 1-inch square battle maps, with a physical presence that looms over adjacent Medium figures just as it should. Scaled to 28mm heroic scale and fully compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, and all major tabletop RPG systems.
What you receive
One professionally produced resin miniature, cleaned and ready for basing and painting. The Wampus sculpt features all six legs in a dynamic mid-stalk pose, with weight shifted onto the front haunches as though it has just frozen before a pounce — the horns are swept cleanly back, the mane is heavily textured, and the face carries that unsettling almost-human expression that defines the cryptid. The figure arrives in its natural grey resin finish — prime and paint to your own colour scheme. All support marks have been carefully removed. Every figure is inspected before dispatch — any miniature that does not meet our standard is remade, not shipped.
Detail and quality
The Wampus rewards a patient painter. The fur across the shoulders and haunches runs in long, directional strokes — ideal for layered drybrushing — while the mane clumps into dense, matted sections that catch washes beautifully in the recesses. The face deserves particular attention: the brow ridge, flattened nose, and slightly parted jaw are all crisply defined, giving you a focal point that can carry the whole piece. The six legs taper to sharp, articulated claws, each individually sculpted with knuckle definition, and the hide along the flanks shows subtle ribbed musculature beneath short, sleek fur. The horns have a smooth, bone-like surface that contrasts nicely against the coarser texture elsewhere on the body.

Compatibility
Compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Age of Sigmar, Frostgrave, and any system using 28–35mm scale figures. The Wampus is a natural fit for wilderness ambush encounters, Appalachian-flavoured hex-crawl campaigns, or as a relentless pursuit predator that dogs the party across a forest region. It also makes a compelling rival beast in a fey-touched woodland or as a cursed shapeshifter boss in a Southern Gothic-inspired one-shot. Base: 50mm round base.
Painting tips
Start with a zenithal undercoat — black from below, white from above — to lock in your lighting before any colour goes down. For the main coat, a basecoat of Vallejo Burnt Umber thinned over the whole body gives a warm mid-tone that reads as a tawny mountain lion in daylight; follow with a heavy wash of Citadel Agrax Earthshade into all the fur recesses, then drybrush progressively lighter passes of Citadel Karak Stone and finally Screaming Skull along the raised fur tips and spine. The mane benefits from going darker — Citadel Rhinox Hide as a basecoat, washed with Nuln Oil, then a careful highlight of Doombull Brown only on the outermost clumps. The face is the showpiece: paint the skin of the muzzle and brow in Vallejo Flat Flesh, shade it back with a thin glaze of Reikland Fleshshade, and pick out the eyes in pale amber (Yriel Yellow glazed over white) with a tiny black pupil and a dot of 'Ardcoat for wetness. The horns suit a Zandri Dust base, washed with Seraphim Sepia, drybrushed to Ushabti Bone at the tips — paint faint dark growth rings near the base for realism. For claws, Ushabti Bone shaded with Agrax and edge-highlighted white reads as hardened keratin perfectly.
Care
Resin miniatures are more brittle than plastic — handle with care, particularly on thin parts such as the claw tips, horn points, and the fine fur fringe along the lower jaw. Store away from direct sunlight. Super glue bonds resin effectively if a part breaks.
Primed or unprimed?
This miniature is available in two options. Unprimed arrives in its natural grey resin finish — apply your own spray or brush-on primer before painting for maximum adhesion, which is the preferred approach of most experienced painters and gives you full control over primer colour and texture. Primed arrives pre-primed in a smooth flat grey, saving you a step and ready for base coats straight from the box. Both options are produced fresh to your order and ship from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia within 5–7 business days. Select your preference above.
Supplied unpainted. Images show the design and sculpt. Painted examples are for reference only.
