Dragged through a tear in reality, the Voidling is a writhing knot of darkness and malformed limbs that shouldn't exist on any material plane. Its hollow eye sockets pulse with a faint, sickly luminescence, and the air around it carries the faint smell of burnt ozone and distant stars. Dropping this figure onto the table signals to your players that something has gone profoundly, cosmically wrong.

This is a Small creature, supplied on a 25mm round base — occupying a single grid square, deceptively compact, yet unsettling enough to anchor the centre of any eldritch encounter. Detail and quality

The Voidling's skin is rendered with a rippling, membranous texture — shallow striations run across its torso like the surface of a soap bubble stretched to breaking point, offering painters excellent contrast between raised ridges and recessed pools. Each of its four asymmetrical limbs terminates in hooked, vestigial fingers that vary subtly in length, rewarding close inspection. The central hollow of its chest cavity is sculpted as a deep concave void, ideal for OSL effects suggesting an inner, otherworldly glow. Its face — if it can be called that — features a ring of small secondary eyes surrounding the primary sockets, each one small enough to highlight individually for a deeply unsettling result.

Painting tips

Prime in black and basecoat the body with Vallejo Dark Prussian Blue or Citadel Kantor Blue — this creates an immediate sense of cold, dimensional wrongness before a single wash is applied. Follow up with a generous coat of Citadel Nuln Oil thinned with medium, letting it pool deep in the membranous skin striations. Drybrush lightly with Citadel Thunderhawk Blue, then edge-highlight the raised ridges with a fine line of Vallejo Ghost Grey to emphasise the stretched-skin texture. For the central chest cavity and eye sockets, use Citadel Waystone Green or a pale Contrast Apothecary White over a white basecoat to suggest bioluminescent inner light — this OSL effect is subtle but striking at arm's length on the table. Finish the hooked finger-tips with a near-black glaze of Citadel Druchii Violet to push them back visually and reinforce the creature's alien anatomy.

Care

Resin miniatures are more brittle than plastic — handle with care, particularly on thin parts such as the Voidling's splayed limb-tendrils and the narrow hooked finger tips, which are vulnerable to snapping under lateral pressure. Store away from direct sunlight. Super glue bonds resin effectively if a part breaks.
