The Vine Lord does not merely inhabit the forest — it is the forest, given hunger and will. A towering mass of knotted heartwood, writhing vines, and thorned limbs, it looms over adventurers with the patient menace of something that has been growing for centuries and sees no reason to hurry. Its hollow eye sockets glow with a sickly bioluminescent green, and the snap of a single tendril can pin a warrior to the earth before the rest of the party has even drawn steel. Placing this figure on the table tells your players immediately: the wilderness is no longer safe.
This is a Large creature, supplied on a 50mm round base — occupying a 2×2 grid footprint, it commands real table presence and physically separates the party the moment it enters the encounter. Scaled to 28mm heroic scale and fully compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, and all major tabletop RPG systems.
What you receive
One professionally produced resin miniature, cleaned and ready for basing and painting. The Vine Lord is sculpted mid-reach, with one massive vine-wrapped arm extended forward and the other raised overhead, tendrils splayed in a grasping posture — a dynamic pose that reads clearly from across the table. A thick central trunk forms the body, wound with climbing vines and splitting at the shoulder line into branch-like limbs studded with curved thorns. The figure arrives in its natural grey resin finish — prime and paint to your own colour scheme. All support marks have been carefully removed. Every figure is inspected before dispatch — any miniature that does not meet our standard is remade, not shipped.
Detail and quality
The bark texture across the torso and upper limbs is deeply carved with longitudinal grain lines, knot scars, and mossy pockets that hold wash beautifully and reward layered drybrushing. Individual vine strands wrap the forearms and legs in overlapping coils, each one visibly rounded and distinct rather than blended into a flat mass — a painterly challenge with an exceptional payoff. The face, half-buried in the chest cavity of the trunk, features a wide-open hollow mouth ringed with smaller thorns and deeply recessed eye sockets that beg for OSL treatment. Ground-level root tendrils spread outward from the base of the figure and flow naturally onto the base itself, anchoring the sculpt and giving painters extra texture real estate for moss, dirt, and forest-floor effects.

Compatibility
Compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Age of Sigmar, Frostgrave, and any system using 28–35mm scale figures. The Vine Lord is a natural fit for druid-heavy campaigns, cursed forest encounters, corrupted nature deity storylines, or as a formidable guardian blocking passage through ancient woodland. It works equally well as a standalone boss in a one-shot or as a recurring territorial threat in a long-form wilderness hex-crawl. Base: 50mm round base.
Painting tips
Basecoat the bark in Vallejo Beasty Brown or Citadel Rhinox Hide, then apply a heavy wash of Agrax Earthshade into all the deep grain lines — the sculpted texture does most of the work for you. Drybrush upward through Citadel Karak Stone and finish with a light pass of Screaming Skull on the highest ridges and knot scars to mimic weathered wood catching light. The climbing vines respond well to a basecoat of Vallejo Sick Green or Citadel Loren Forest, washed with Coelia Greenshade and highlighted with Moot Green at the apex of each coil. For the glowing eye sockets, thin down Citadel Tesseract Glow or Vallejo Fluorescent Green and apply in thin layers deep inside the cavity, letting it fade outward — a ring of Citadel Mournfang Brown around the socket rim keeps the OSL grounded. Finish the thorns with a sharp edge highlight of off-white to make them pop against the dark bark and give the figure that dangerous, spiny silhouette it deserves.
Care
Resin miniatures are more brittle than plastic — handle with care, particularly on thin parts such as the extended vine tendrils, thorn tips, and the fine root strands at the base. Store away from direct sunlight. Super glue bonds resin effectively if a part breaks.
Primed or unprimed?
This miniature is available in two options. Unprimed arrives in its natural grey resin finish — apply your own spray or brush-on primer before painting for maximum adhesion, which is the preferred approach of most experienced painters and gives you full control over primer colour and texture. Primed arrives pre-primed in a smooth flat grey, saving you a step and ready for base coats straight from the box. Both options are produced fresh to your order and ship from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia within 5–7 business days. Select your preference above.
Supplied unpainted. Images show the design and sculpt. Painted examples are for reference only.
