The Vile Barber is no mere hairdresser gone mad — he is a methodical, hollow-eyed predator who has turned the intimacy of his trade into a ritual of horror. Dressed in a blood-stained apron, straight razor in hand and a second blade tucked behind his ear, he regards his next client with a patient, professional smile that never quite reaches his eyes. Placing him across the table from your players transforms any city encounter into something deeply unsettling — a reminder that the most dangerous monsters wear respectable faces.

This is a Medium creature, supplied on a 25mm round base — occupying a single 1-inch grid square, he fits seamlessly into urban dungeon tiles, barbershop set-pieces, or any cramped interior encounter space. Scaled to 28mm heroic scale and fully compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, and all major tabletop RPG systems.

What you receive

One professionally produced resin miniature, cleaned and ready for basing and painting. The Vile Barber is sculpted in a composed, slightly forward-leaning stance — one hand raising his straight razor at shoulder height, the other curled at his side with a folded cloth, as though mid-appointment. His apron is thick with sculpted folds and staining detail, and his face carries a fixed, unsettling grin beneath sunken cheeks. The figure arrives in its natural grey resin finish — prime and paint to your own colour scheme. All support marks have been carefully removed. Every figure is inspected before dispatch — any miniature that does not meet our standard is remade, not shipped.

Detail and quality

The straight razor is the centrepiece of the sculpt — a slender, cleanly defined blade with a faint etch line along the spine that will reward a careful highlight. His apron features deep fabric creases converging at the waist tie, with irregular surface texture across the chest that reads convincingly as dried staining once washed. The face is where the sculptor has invested the most character: the cheekbones are sharp and hollow, the grin is wide but asymmetric, and the brow carries a faint furrow that gives him an expression of concentrated patience rather than fury. His waistcoat beneath the apron shows small button details and a shallow herringbone texture across the chest panel — a subtle touch that distinguishes him from a common thug and marks him as someone who takes professional pride in his appearance.

Compatibility

Compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Age of Sigmar, Frostgrave, and any system using 28–35mm scale figures. The Vile Barber suits urban intrigue campaigns, murder mystery one-shots, guild of assassins encounters, or any scenario where a seemingly ordinary NPC is revealed as the campaign's most chilling villain — he is equally effective as a named boss in a city arc or a recurring antagonist who always manages to slip away. Base: 25mm round base.

Painting tips

Start with a black primer for maximum shadow depth, then basecoat the waistcoat in Vallejo Neutral Grey or Citadel Administratum Grey — it reads as a once-respectable grey that has seen better days. The apron rewards a Citadel Contrast Skeleton Horde over off-white to suggest aged linen, followed by selective glazes of Citadel Carroburg Crimson pooled into the creases to sell the staining without overloading the surface. Wash the entire face with Citadel Reikland Fleshshade, then build back the cheekbones and brow ridge with Vallejo Basic Skintone in thin layers — keeping the recesses dark is what gives the grin its menace. The razor blade responds beautifully to the classic chainmail-to-mithril dry-brush sequence, with a final thin line of pure white along the cutting edge to imply sharpness. If you want to push the horror atmosphere further, a very thin glaze of Citadel Blood for the Blood God applied to the apron creases and razor tip after varnishing adds visceral impact without obscuring the underlying detail.

Care

Resin miniatures are more brittle than plastic — handle with care, particularly on thin parts such as the straight razor blade, the folded cloth hanging from his hand, and the fine detailing along his collar and apron tie. Store away from direct sunlight. Super glue bonds resin effectively if a part breaks.

Primed or unprimed?

This miniature is available in two options. Unprimed arrives in its natural grey resin finish — apply your own spray or brush-on primer before painting for maximum adhesion, which is the preferred approach of most experienced painters and gives you full control over primer colour and texture. Primed arrives pre-primed in a smooth flat grey, saving you a step and ready for base coats straight from the box. Both options are produced fresh to your order and ship from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia within 5–7 business days. Select your preference above.

Materials & Print Quality

All inserts and accessories are printed in PETG filament — chosen specifically for workshop environments. PETG handles tool weight without cracking, resists workshop chemicals and oils, and holds tight tolerances so parts fit snugly first time.

Layer height and print settings are tuned per-product to maximise strength where it matters. Colours may vary slightly between batches due to filament manufacturing tolerances.
