Carved from centuries of hard-won runic tradition, the Dwarven Ringmage commands the battlefield with rings glowing on every finger — each one a bound spell, a sealed pact, or a catastrophic failsafe. Stocky and unassuming until the moment he isn't, this mage has outlasted three dynasties and keeps count on his knuckles. Drop him across the table from your players and watch them debate which ring to fear most.

This is a Medium creature, supplied on a 25mm round base — occupying a single 1-inch grid square, he fits neatly alongside standard adventurers and holds his own visually against taller humanoid sculpts. Scaled to 28mm heroic scale and fully compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, and all major tabletop RPG systems.

What you receive

One professionally produced resin miniature, cleaned and ready for basing and painting. The Dwarven Ringmage is sculpted in a commanding mid-cast stance — one hand raised with fingers splayed to show off his ring collection, the other gripping a rune-etched staff worn smooth from decades of use. His layered robes hang heavy with embroidered trim, and his braided beard is bound with runic clasps. The figure arrives in its natural grey resin finish — prime and paint to your own colour scheme. All support marks have been carefully removed. Every figure is inspected before dispatch — any miniature that does not meet our standard is remade, not shipped.

Detail and quality

The robes are a painter's reward — deep fabric folds run from the collar to the hem, creating natural channels for washes and sharp ridges for dry-brushing highlights. Each ring on his raised hand is individually sculpted with a distinct stone or sigil face, small enough to challenge a detail brush and satisfying enough to justify the effort. The beard clasps carry tiny runic inscriptions that reward a magnifying glass, and the staff head is wrapped in cord with trailing ribbon-like bindings that flutter slightly as though caught mid-incantation. His expression is focused and faintly disdainful — the look of a dwarf who has heard your spell list and is not impressed.

Compatibility

Compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Age of Sigmar, Frostgrave, and any system using 28–35mm scale figures. The Dwarven Ringmage is ideal as an NPC artificer, a recurring quest-giver in a dwarven hold, or the true mastermind behind a dungeon your players thought was abandoned — he also makes a compelling PC stand-in for an Artificer or Wizard in a dwarven-flavoured campaign. Base: 25mm round base.

Painting tips

Start the robes with Vallejo Dark Prussian Blue or Citadel Kantor Blue as your basecoat — it reads as scholarly without drifting into wizard-blue cliché, and the deep folds will swallow a generous wash of Citadel Drakenhof Nightshade beautifully. Pick out the embroidered trim with Vallejo Brass or Citadel Gehenna's Gold and glaze over it with Citadel Seraphim Sepia to knock back the brightness and unify it with the robe. For the rings, use a different metallic on each stone setting — mix Citadel Leadbelcher, Retributor Armour, and a tiny spot of Moot Green or Screamer Pink on individual stones to sell the idea that each one is a different enchantment. The staff wood responds well to Citadel Contrast Wyldwood applied heavily into the cord wrapping, then dry-brushed with Ushabti Bone on the raised wooden grain. If you want an OSL moment, glaze the palm of his raised hand and the underside of his chin with a thin mix of Citadel Aethermatic Blue or Hexwraith Flame — it suggests one of those rings is very much active right now.

Care

Resin miniatures are more brittle than plastic — handle with care, particularly on thin parts such as the staff shaft, the trailing beard bindings, and the fine ribbon wraps near the staff head. Store away from direct sunlight. Super glue bonds resin effectively if a part breaks.

Primed or unprimed?

This miniature is available in two options. Unprimed arrives in its natural grey resin finish — apply your own spray or brush-on primer before painting for maximum adhesion, which is the preferred approach of most experienced painters and gives you full control over primer colour and texture. Primed arrives pre-primed in a smooth flat grey, saving you a step and ready for base coats straight from the box. Both options are produced fresh to your order and ship from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia within 5–7 business days. Select your preference above.

Supplied unpainted. Images show the design and sculpt. Painted examples are for reference only.

All inserts and accessories are printed in PETG filament — chosen specifically for workshop environments. PETG handles tool weight without cracking, resists workshop chemicals and oils, and holds tight tolerances so parts fit snugly first time.

Layer height and print settings are tuned per-product to maximise strength where it matters. Colours may vary slightly between batches due to filament manufacturing tolerances.
