The City Watch Captain stands at the corner of every crooked alley and lamplit plaza, one gauntleted hand resting on a well-worn sword hilt and a gaze that has seen too many lies to believe another one. Whether your players are blagging their way past a checkpoint, bribing their way out of a cell, or finally earning the grudging trust of the city's law, this miniature brings that pivotal NPC to life on the tabletop. Authoritative, weathered, and not entirely incorruptible — the Captain is a face the party will never quite forget.
This is a Medium creature, supplied on a 25mm round base — occupying a single 1-inch grid square, the Captain slots cleanly into any city street map, guard post, or throne room without crowding the scene. Scaled to 28mm heroic scale and fully compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, and all major tabletop RPG systems.
What you receive
One professionally produced resin miniature, cleaned and ready for basing and painting. The City Watch Captain is sculpted in three-quarter plate armour layered over a chainmail backing, with a longsword at the hip, a hand crossbow holstered across the chest, and a captain's tabard falling to mid-thigh — bearing a raised heraldic emblem specific to the sculpt. The figure arrives in its natural grey resin finish — prime and paint to your own colour scheme. All support marks have been carefully removed. Every figure is inspected before dispatch — any miniature that does not meet our standard is remade, not shipped.
Detail and quality
The plate armour reads with convincingly worn edges — subtle dents and scratched striations across the pauldrons and breastplate reward close attention during painting. The tabard drapes with natural fabric weight, its heraldic emblem crisply raised and ideal for freehand detail or a simple wash-and-highlight approach. The Captain's face is set in a firm, experienced expression — strong jaw, furrowed brow, and eyes that read as authoritative even at arm's length across the table. The sword grip is wrapped in sculpted cord with a pronounced pommel, and the hand crossbow's trigger mechanism and stock are rendered with enough precision to pick out individual components with a fine liner brush.

Compatibility
Compatible with Dungeons & Dragons 5e, Pathfinder 1e & 2e, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Age of Sigmar, Frostgrave, and any system using 28–35mm scale figures. The City Watch Captain is an essential NPC for urban campaigns — perfect for city gate confrontations, corrupt precinct storylines, guard investigation quests, or as a recurring law-enforcement contact across a long-running campaign. Base: 25mm round base.
Painting tips
Start the armour with Vallejo Model Color Neutral Grey or Citadel Leadbelcher as a base, then wash heavily with Citadel Nuln Oil to deepen the plate recesses and give the metal a grimy, street-level character. Dry-brush the raised armour edges with Citadel Ironbreaker followed by a light pass of Stormhost Silver to simulate wear without losing the underlying depth. The tabard responds beautifully to Citadel Contrast Paints — Wyldwood or Skeleton Horde over a white prime delivers a convincing aged linen in a single coat, leaving the heraldic emblem ready for a pop of colour (deep crimson or city livery blue work well). Pick out the leather crossbow stock with Vallejo Flat Brown washed in Agrax Earthshade, and treat the grip cord with Citadel Rhinox Hide for contrast against the metal. The face rewards a Citadel Guilliman Flesh contrast layer over pale primer, then a careful highlight on the brow ridge, nose bridge, and cheekbones with Vallejo Basic Skintone to bring the stern expression forward.
Care
Resin miniatures are more brittle than plastic — handle with care, particularly on thin parts such as the hand crossbow's prod arms, the sword blade tip, and the tabard's lower hem if it extends free of the legs. Store away from direct sunlight. Super glue bonds resin effectively if a part breaks.
Primed or unprimed?
This miniature is available in two options. Unprimed arrives in its natural grey resin finish — apply your own spray or brush-on primer before painting for maximum adhesion, which is the preferred approach of most experienced painters and gives you full control over primer colour and texture. Primed arrives pre-primed in a smooth flat grey, saving you a step and ready for base coats straight from the box. Both options are produced fresh to your order and ship from Ballarat, Victoria, Australia within 5–7 business days. Select your preference above.
Supplied unpainted. Images show the design and sculpt. Painted examples are for reference only.
